About Us

OUR PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY
The YMCA provides a vital service to families in the community with Child Care programs that deliver a stimulating learning experience to children in a safe environment. We enrich family life by providing the opportunity for parents to seek employment or education outside of the home. YMCA Child Care provides experiences that enhance a child’s social, intellectual, physical and emotional development.

OUR PROGRAM VALUES

YMCA Child Care programs are available to all regardless of backgrounds, belief or ability. Parents have the right to pursue work or education with peace of mind; children have a right to a secure, safe and developmental program. Child Care families can access the additional supports and services the YMCA provides. Parent participation is important to YMCA Child Care.

PROGRAM RESOURCES IN OUR CLASSROOMS

The High/Scope approach is supported by two YMCA Child Care staff who are specifically trained as High/Scope Trainers by the High/Scope Institute in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

The YMCA has a partnership with Merrymount Children’s Centre to provide support to the programs, staff, children and families. All Kids Belong provides staff for classroom support to centres where there are children and families with indentified challenges. Their primary role is to enable and empower families and Child Care professionals so that all children can successfully participate in community Child Care settings.

Regional Manager positions are responsible for monitoring all child care programs to provide support and ensure high quality services are delivered at all times. These positions assist directors with operations including staff selection, policy review and act as the director and staff liaison to the Vice President of Child Care Services.
