Your Child is in great hands!
The YMCA of Western Ontario understands and recognizes the impact of a quality camping experience on the development of a child. Each staff member is carefully selected for their leadership skills, camping experience and genuine interest in working with children of all backgrounds and abilities. Our Day Camp staff team, supervised by full time YMCA staff, is made up of young adults who know and appreciate the importance of a safe environment, ensuring the right combination of fun and challenge. All YMCA Day Camp staff are at least 17 years of age, carefully screened, and certified in Standard First Aid, CPR, and YMCA Healthy Child Development. All lifeguard staff are NLS certified.
Ratios
While at camp, your child will be in a camper group organized according to their age and camp interest. Ratios for our camps meet the requirements for the Ontario Camping Association standards.
Ratios are as follows:
Campers 3-5 years of age = 6 campers to 1 counsellor
Campers 6-8 years of age = 8 campers to 1 counsellor
Campers 9-16 years of age = 10 campers to 1 counsellor
Where possible and appropriate, we will increase staff to camper ratios to better suit the needs of the group each week.
