Woodstock YMCA Renewal & Renovation
The YMCA of Woodstock annouces Campaign Team! Click here for more information.

Q & A:
Q. What is the timeline for the construction work?
A. Work is anticipated to begin in February 2010 and be completed by the end of 2010.

Q. Will the Woodstock YMCA remain open?
A. Absolutely; the building will remain open throughout the renovation. The YMCA staff will do their very best to minimize inconveniences to the largest extent possible.

Q. Will there be service disruptions?
A. Most areas of the building will be closed for renovations at some point and services will be disrupted. We will work as diligently as possible to inform you of closures and provide
estimated construction timelines. Programs will be accommodated wherever possible.

Q. Why are the squash courts being removed?
A. Unfortunately, the budget will not allow us to increase the footprint of the building. Participation in racquet sports has dropped significantly in recent years. The YMCA has been
experiencing this trend with low court usage. We feel the branch would better serve families by adding a family change room. Considering these factors, it was decided that this location would be used for the family change room.

Q. Are we losing any other program areas?
A. No. The fitness area in the building will increase to better serve new and existing members.

Q. Will the child care centre be closed during renovations?

A. No, only minor changes are happening in this area.

Q. How much will this cost?
A. The proposed renovations must not exceed $3,000,000.

Q. What happens if we do not raise the $1,000,000?
A. It is imperative that we raise $1 million from the community to make this project possible. We must move forward with the project and the fundraising at the same time so that the work can be completed to qualify for the Federal and Provincial Infrastructure programs. The funding
formula is one-third Federal (to a maximum of $1 million), one-third Provincial (to a maximum of $1 million) and one-third locally.

Q. How can I help?

• Volunteer for our newly formed Membership Drive Committee.
• Volunteer for our newly formed Fundraising Committee.

• Please maintain your membership. We understand that once construction begins it will be disruptive; we appreciate your patience and support.

Q. Does all of my donation stay with the Woodstock YMCA?
A. Yes, 100% of your donation stays with the Woodstock YMCA, all costs associated with fundraising are being covered by the YMCA of Western Ontario to ensure this.
