Instructional Youth Programs
Child Minding Services (3 months-5 years)
Playroom provides a child minding service for children 3 months to 5 years of age. This service is included with a Y membership and can be used by those who require care for their child/children while using the YMCA facility. Parents are required to remain in the building and there is a two hour time limit.
Mini Y Combo (3-5 years)
The Mini Y Program is designed with the preschooler’s interests in mind. Children aged 3 to 5 years meet new friends as they enjoy games, stories, crafts and active play. A half hour swim completes their session. Parents are asked to be on the pool deck 5 minutes before the program ends.
Youth Fitness Club (10-13 years)
Youth Fitness Club provides youth 10 to 13 years of age with the opportunity to learn about and use the equipment in the Fitness Centre. This supervised program involves personalized programs with the components of cardiovascular exercise, endurance training and flexibility. Upon successful completion of this program youth will be able to work out with a parent in the Fitness Centre.
Youth Karate (6-13 years)
Shorin Ryu style karate is available for children and youth 6 to 13 years of age. This form of karate is integrated with punching and striking techniques in order to develop discipline, accuracy, balance and flexibility. No uniform is required but participants must register for this program.
Y-ired Zone (6-13 years)
Y-ired Zone offers youth the opportunity to be active while interacting with their favourite video games. Dance, cycle, snow board and so much more! This is an unsupervised program.
Youth Soccer (6-13 years)
This program emphasizes fun, sportsmanship and team play while focusing on skill development such as passing, shooting and foot work.
Youth Floor Hockey (6-13 years)
Non-competitive drills and game play. Helmet with mask is mandatory and must be provided by each participant. All other equipment supplied. |
