Bob Hayward YMCA: YOUTH PROGRAMS

3 months – 2 years
Playroom: This service included with a family membership, can be utilized by those who require care for their child(ren) while using the YMCA. Time limit: 2 hours
3 years – 5 years
Jump n’ Jive: Children will have experience elements of dance, free movement and gymnastics; Basic skill development and fun are the focus of this program with games and circle time included.
Mini Y Combo: This program for 3-5 year olds includes 1 hour of fun indoor/outdoor play followed by 1/2 hour fun swim in our pool.
Game On: Social and cognitive skills to be developed include memory, counting, planning and choices, sorting, classifying, and working mazes and puzzles; Program activities will also develop large and fine motor skills with gym games, and other manipulatives.
6 years– 13 years
All Sorts of Sports:Learn drills and skills while having fun in this non-competitive environment. Includes a variety of sports.
Karate – Shorin Ryu*: A nonaggressive approach towards conflict resolution is emphasized in this program as well as instruction in all the basic blocks, kicks and striking techniques.
Soccer: This program emphasizes fun, sportsmanship and team play while focusing on skill development such as passing, shooting and foot work.
Ultimate: Ultimate is an exciting, non-contact team sport, played by thousands the world over. It mixes the best features of sports such as Soccer, Basketball, American Football and Netball into an elegantly simple yet fascinating and demanding game.
Flag Football: A fun and safe introduction to football. Learn the fundamentals in a non contact environment. Running shoes are required
Silly Science:Become a Y Silly Scientist and learn to do fun experiments! Learn about things like Big Bubbles, Goop, simple machines, and more through hands on activities.
Youth Fit Club*:This is an introduction to cardio and strength training for 10 to 13 year olds. Participants will learn principles of training and the importance of healthy active lifestyles.
Youth Circuit Training*:Participants can apply the cardiovascular and strength training principles they learned in Youth fit Club. (Must complete Youth Fit Club)
Youth Kickboxing**:This is an introduction to kickboxing for youth. Emphasis is on agility, strength training, cardiovascular training and fun of course! (Must complete Youth Fit Club)
Yired Zone:Youth Fitness Zone offers youth the opportunity to be active while interacting with their favourite video games. Dance, cycle, and so much more! Come join us.
Leader Corp*:YMCA Youth Leader Corps programs are designed to help participants build skills that they can use for a lifetime! The program aims to provide a sense of responsibility for the well-being of others and a sound foundation of formal and supervised in-service training that prepares youth for future volunteer and employment opportunities.
