Intructional Youth Programs
Skilled classes are age appropriate. Registration Required.

All Sorts of Sports*
Learn drills and skills while having fun in this non-competitive environment. Includes a variety of sports. Ages 6-13 years.

Babysitting Course**
Become a certified babysitter with a recognized organization. Participants get hands on experience within the Y and assignments to complete. Ages 10-13 years. Please see Membership Services for course dates.

Child Minding (Playroom)
Open seven days a week, for a maximum two-hour consecutive stay, this service is a great way for parents or caregivers to take care of themselves and their children at the same time. Ages 3 months to 3 years.

Gymnastics*
Balance, agility and strength. This program offers instruction in all the essential floor elements. Ages 6-13 years.

Mini Y Combo
This program for 3-5 year olds includes 1 1/2 hours of fun play followed by 1/2 hour fun swim in our pool.

Home Alone**
Designed for children who are ready to tackle the challenge of being at home unsupervised. Ages 10-13. Please see Membership Services for course dates.

Karate - Youth*
A nonagressive approach towards conflict resolution is emphasized in this program as well as instruction in all the basic blocks, kicks and striking techniques. Ages 6-13 years.

L’il Dragons*
This introduction to karate emphasizes fun while showcasing basic karate techniques.
Ages 3-5 years.

Preschool Dance*
Children will have fun doing different dances in a happy atmosphere with modern music. This program will teach techniques based on dance and movement. For ages 3-5.

Preschool Floor Hockey*
Learn to shoot, pass and score! Drills, skills and play in a non-competetive environment. Child must bring their own helmet to participate. Ages 3-5 years.

Preschool Soccer*
Learn all the basic skills through drills and team play in this non-competitive environment. Ages 3-5 years.

Rolling and Tumbling*
Learn gymnastics techniques while moving to music. Basic skill development and fun are the focus of this program. Ages 3-5 years.

Swim Lessons*
Instructional swim lessons for youth (ages 6-13 years) are 45 minutes in length. Includes levels in the YMCA Learn to Swim and Star programs. Instructional lessons for preschoolers (ages 3-5 years) are 30 minutes in length and include levels in the YMCA L’il Dippers program. Please refer to Aquatic schedule for more information.

Yired Zone
Youth Fitness Zone offers youth the opportunity to be active while interacting with their favourite video games. Dance, cycle, snow board and so much more! Ages 8 and up.

Youth Athletic Hour*
A fun, creative approach to improving athletic abilities. Develop several key sport skills such as: flexibility, strength, speed, agility, coordination, balance, stamina through drills, games and exercises. Ages 10-13 years.

Youth Badminton*
This program emphasizes fun, sportsmanship, and team play while focusing on skill development such as serving, rallying and coordination. Ages 6-13 years.

Youth Basketball*
Learn to dribble, shoot and pass! Drills, skills and play in a non-competitive environment. Ages 6-13 years.

Youth Boot Camp*
Ready to work hard, look and feel your best? Join our Youth Boot Camp, a circuit class consisting of cardio and weights to get kids moving and keep them healthy! Come prepared with water bottle and towel and get ready to sweat! Ages 10-13 years.

Youth Circuit Training*
Emphasis on fun and physically challenging activities, basic technique instruction, cardiovscular strength training. Ages 10-13 years.

Youth Combo
Youth Combo offers a variety of activities for children aged 4-8 years old including sports, crafts, active games and fitness. The goal of this program is to encourage children to have a healthy lifestyle in a supervised, fun environment. Come join us. There’s no need to register!

Youth Dance*
Children will have fun doing different dances in a happy atmosphere with modern music. This program will teach techniques based on dance and movement. Ages 6-13 years.

Youth Fit Club*
This program for 10-13 year olds encourages the importance of active living. Anything from active games to group fitness classes.

Youth Masters**
The Master Swimmer program is intended to review and improve stroke techniques, endurance to 700 metres and prepare the participant for a leadership or lifeguard role. It is reccommended that participents are in Star 2 or higher.

Youth Recreational Gym
Recreational gym time for youth 6-13 years of age to use the gym facilities for unsupervised basketball, soccer or other sport play.

Youth Stroke Improvement*
A time for children to practice their swimming strokes and improve endurance. This program
is recommended for swimmers who can work independently, but participants will receive techniques and stroke correction from a certified swim instructor.

Youth Soccer*
This program emphasizes fun, sportsmanship and team play while focusing on skill development such as passing, shooting and footwork. Youth ages 6-13 years.

YMCA Youth Leader Corps *
These programs are designed to help participants build skills that they can use for a lifetime! The program aims to provide a sense of responsibility for the well-being of others and a sound foundation of formal and supervised in-service training that prepares youth for future volunteer and employment opportunities. Ages Jr.10-13 yrs. Sr. 14-16

Youth Yoga*
Kids have a natural ability to stretch, bend, move and empower their mind and body. This program will promote laughter and playfulness while encouraging your children to settle their minds and bodies. Ages 6-13 years.
