History

Established in November 1856 as the seventh YMCA in Canada and as a place for men to explore spiritual values and leisure activities, the YMCA of Western Ontario has a history of service and deep roots in the community. Over the last 152 years, we have evolved into an organization that provides a wide variety of programs and services for people of all ages and abilities in the community.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of individuals are involved in the YMCA through our three fitness centres in London, Strathroy, Woodstock and St. Thomas, our childcare, our community school programs, our outdoor education programs, our youth leadership and our day and residential camping.

The YMCA of Western Ontario is part of a worldwide movement, and is one of 64 associations across Canada.
