Splashers (3 months - 18 months)
Designed for parents/caregivers and child to become comfortable in the water together. Learn basic swim and safety skills in a fun and safe environment. Instruction includes comfort in the water, splashes with arms and legs, pool area orientation,
songs and free time for questions and play.

Bubblers (18 months - 3 years)
Building on what was learned in Splashers, children and their parents/caregivers learn how to hold wall and kick feet, front/
back float assisted, and safe swimming. Songs, games, and free time are also included.

L’il Dipper (ages 3 - 5)
The L’il Dipper program focuses on getting comfortable in the water, learning basic swim skills and water play. L’il Dipper
lessons are 30 minutes in length. Children may be registeredfor one lesson per session at this level.Bobber, Floater, Glider, Diver, Surfer, Dipper

Learn to Swim (ages 6 – 13)
The Learn to Swim program teaches children basic swimming strokes, skills and water safety. All lessons are 45 minutes in length. Children may be registered for one lesson per session
at this level. Otter, Seal, Dolphin, Swimmer

Star Levels (ages 6+ and completed Swimmer)
The YMCA Star program teaches advanced strokes, skills, endurance and water safety. Star level lessons are 45 minutes in length and children may be registered for one lesson per session at this level. Star 1, Star 2, Star 3, Star 4, Star 5, Star 6

Y Masters (must be complete Star 6)
The Master Swimmer program is intended to review and improve stroke techniques, improve endurance to 700 meters and prepare the participant for a leadership or lifeguard role.

Adult & Teen Lessons (12 years +)
Beginner lessons geared towards the non-swimmer or those who fear the water. Stroke improvement tips and techniques are offered to the intermediate swimmer who would like to improve their swimming skills.

Certification and Leadership Programs


Bronze Star (12 years +)
Advanced lifesaving course designed to prepare participants for Bronze Medallion. Emphasis is placed on rescue drills, fitness skills and victim recognition. Prerequisite: Ability to swim 25 meters, tread water for a minimum of 45 seconds.

Bronze Medallion (13 years +)
Emphasis is placed on CPR and recovery position,
treatment of shock and hypothermia as well as various
rescue techniques. Lifesaving Manual Required ($).

Bronze Cross & Standard First Aid (14 years +)
Emphasis is placed on the recognition of emergencies
and how to respond to these emergencies. Spinal rollovers are introduced. Prerequisite: Current Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid Lifesaving Manual Required ($).

Red Cross Assistant Water Safety Instructors (15 years+)
An introductory step towards instructors. Apprenticeship hours required during course. Manual required($).

Red Cross & LSS Instructors (16 years +)
Final step towards becoming a Swim Instructor. Prerequisite:AWSI course.

LSS National Lifeguard Service (16 yrs+)
This course is required to become a certified lifeguard. You will learn various lifesaving techniques and take part in
practical situations. Prerequisite: Current Bronze Cross,
Standard First Aid. Manual required ($).
